Grow Girl! © and Boys Only! ©

In middle school, when peer pressure to engage in underage drinking and risky behaviors increases, students receive the “Grow Girl!”© and “Boys Only!”© gender specific curricula to support the information learned in elementary school. 

GROW GIRL! ©
This self-esteem building program helps encourage, empower and enable 10, 11 and 12 year old girls to become resilient! Grow Girl! © provides interactive lessons, guest speakers, incentives, positive messages, health information, and support to build resilient pre-teen girls. The positive message and lessons target the following risky behaviors:

  • Alcohol and Substance Use and Abuse
  • Premature sexual activity
  • Eating disorders
  • Negative self-image and domestic violence

Your Grow Girl! © will experience the following activities:

  • Eight 45 minute classroom or after-school lessons, using whole language techniques (reading, comprehension, journal writing.)
  • Guest speakers who are successful role models in the fields of law, entertainment, business, education, and sports.
  • Incentives in the form of posters, books, and diaries.

BOYS ONLY ! ©
This literacy-based self-esteem building prevention education program that encourages and enables 5th – 7th grade boys to protect themselves from engaging in the following risky behaviors:

  • Alcohol and substance use and abuse
  • Premature sexual activity
  • A negative self-image
  • Violence and/or conflicts with peers and in relationships with girls

The Boys Only! © experience will include the following activities:

  • Eight 45 minute classroom or after-school lessons
  • The use of whole language techniques such as reading, comprehensive discussion, and journal writing
  • Guest speakers who are successful and realistic role models from the Capital District community
  • Incentive items such as t-shirts, posters, pencils, books and stickers
